We are delighted to announce the reopening of the nets at Old Ruts CC

28th May, 2020

Last week we were given some good news from the government and the ECB giving cricket facilities the green light to be used in a safe Covid-19 compliant environment. We are delighted that today we officially announce how to safely open our nets facilities.

It is important everyone reads the attached guidelines the ECB have announced.

As it stands we are hopeful that this is phase 1 of the reintroduction of recreational sport that will mean at some point this summer we will be able to introduce group sessions and matches in line with any further ECB/Government guidelines.

What this note intends to do is inform you all about how our cricket nets facilities can be enjoyed by our members.

Firstly, it’s important to establish what is open and what will remain closed:

  • Car Park: closed unless required to use cricket nets
  • Clubhouse including toilets:  closed (the building may be being used for the foodbank but please don’t enter)
  • Nets: Open subject to rules below
  • Outfield: still closed

AVAILABILITY  – only for members of ORA

As with any season the nets & the grounds will only be available for the use of Old Rutlishian association members.

If you could kindly ensure your 2020 ORA membership is paid and up to date, you can then see below the method with which to book sessions. You can check your ORA subscription by logging into webcollect @ https://webcollect.org.uk/oldruts

CRICKET MEMBERSHIP 2020

At this stage only a small number of seniors and juniors have signed up to the 2020 season and at this point, we are not requesting full membership to be paid. This will be reviewed later in the summer if we are able to introduce group sessions and matches in line with further ECB/Government guidelines.

For those who have paid their cricket subscription for 2020, please go ahead and begin booking sessions in line with guidelines.

For all other seniors and juniors who haven’t paid their subscriptions for 2020, we are requesting a Nets subscription to be paid of £20 per family.  This will contribute to the upkeep of the nets this year. This can be purchased at webcollect under cricket subs @ https://webcollect.org.uk/oldruts

BOOKING SYSTEM

Along with ECB guidelines primarily for your safety we are operating an advance booking system for members only. Initially only two bookings per family per week will be allowed in 45 minute slots. This will be reviewed on a week by week basis.

Please use common sense, consideration and respect when booking the nets as well as during your time within them. We want to make sure as many members get the opportunity for some much needed exercise and enjoyment.

Please do not try to book more sessions per week than allowed and please do not book if you haven’t yet paid your ORA membership for 2020. In both circumstances the sessions will be cancelled.

Bookings can only be made 2 weeks in advance.

All members aged 16 and under will need to be supervised by a parent/ guardian.

CLUB REPRESENTATIVE / SUPERVISOR ON SITE

ECB rules have made it mandatory for there to be a club representative / supervisor on site at all times. We are really fortunate that a number of volunteers across the cricket section have put aside time to support. Please respect what they ask, this is a vital role to keep everyone safe.

PRIVATE COACHING

Once we have the new booking system launched we expect to allow Eranga Mendis to run paid 1-2-1 sessions if you are interested. We will email further details when this is ready to start.

GUIDELINES FOR USE

Following ECB guidelines – Click Here, we will only be initially opening  two of the nets on either of our net facilities for general member use. Net A on the left and Net B on the right if you are looking at the Nets with your back to the clubhouse.

Ideally entrance to the ground will be on foot. Some parking may be possible but please cycle or walk if you can.

Please do not congregate in groups around the nets. Arrive 5 mins before and leave within 5 mins of your session finishing.

There will be no toilets available on site and the club house is closed, please do not enter even if the doors are open.

Please bring your own first kit

Covid 19 Compliance:

  • Strict social distancing at all times – 2 metres
  • Maximum of two people using a net unless everyone is from the same household
  • Players must report to the supervisor prior to using the nets.
  • Family bookings allowed the use of both bays. Please ensure the supervisor is aware, so facilities can be cleaned correctly after the session.
  • Initially the door to the nets should remain open to ensure that there is no need for multiple users to touch the lock or door. Ideally the Supervisor will open and close the door
  • Hand Sanitizer will be available in the nets for use before and after
  • There should be no use of saliva to shine the ball
  • Players must not share any kit, unless within a household. Use only your own ball ideally.

Please do read the attached guidelines before coming down and using the facilities.

We look forward to seeing you in the near future.
