Eranga Mendis

Eranga is a former Sri Lankan professional cricketer, an ECB Level 4 coach and the current
Lead Spin Bowling Coach at Surrey County Cricket Club. With over 20+ years of coaching
experience, he is a specialist spin bowling coach with an outstanding record of developing
young cricketers from beginners to county level. Many players he has coached have gone on
to represent county teams with several progressing to the England national red ball and
white ball sides as a direct result of his guidance. Eranga also works with international
players worldwide and was a specialist spin bowling coach for the Brampton Wolves in the
Global T20 Canada 2024.

Nick Attenborough

Nick is an ECB Level 3 coach and currently at the start of the ECB Specialist Coaching (Level
4) journey. He is also an ECB Coach Developer, working in both tutoring and assessing roles.
Nick’s coaching experience spans from schools through to performance pathways, including
leading girls sections and coaching at district and regional level for Surrey and Middlesex. He
has a background in Talent ID and identified a current England U19 player at a young age.
Nick’s playing background includes age-group county, school, university and Gloucestershire
district cricket. Most recently, he was lead batting coach at Kingston Grammar School, where
their win percentage increased by 48%.

Adnan Ahmed

Adnan started his cricket journey at Old Rutlishians, progressing from junior cricket through
to the First XI, giving him a strong understanding of player development at every stage. He is
an ECB Level 2 qualified coach with experience working with both junior and senior players
at Ruts. His coaching focuses on helping players of all abilities improve their technical skills,
game awareness and confidence, while creating a positive and supportive environment
where players can enjoy their cricket and reach their full potential.

Ruby Day

Ruby is completing her ECB Core Level 1 coaching qualification in August through the MCC
Foundation, where she is developing her knowledge of batting, bowling, fielding and
wicketkeeping, with a strong focus on player-centred development, tactical understanding,
physical fundamentals and mental skills. She has three years experience coaching juniors of
all abilities, delivering year-round cricket across winter, summer and holiday camps. Ruby
began playing cricket at a young age through the Old Ruts pathway and now plays across
girls and mixed age group teams as well as senior women’s and mixed teams. With strong
knowledge as both a player and coach, she supports players in developing technique and
tactical awareness across all aspects of the game.
Dimitri Nicolaides

Dimi is an ECB Level 2 qualified cricket coach with four years experience coaching juniors of
all ages and the women’s squad at Old Ruts. He uses patience and clear guidance to help
players develop strong fundamentals and sound technique across all formats. His coaching
focuses on identifying and removing bad habits early through step-by-step programmes that
build confidence, reduce fear and help players trust their abilities. With over 20 years of
playing experience including school 1st XI, Wits University, South African club cricket, and
Action (indoor) cricket in both South Africa and the UK and now playing part-time at Old
Ruts, Dimi brings a broad, supportive approach to every session

Shahbaz Mahmood

Shahbaz is an ECB Level 2 coach with a strong playing
background, having competed in Minor Counties cricket for Berkshire at age-group level as
well as London Schools. His experience at competitive levels has given him a strong
understanding of the technical, tactical and mental demands of the game, which he now
brings into his coaching. He is highly motivated, well organised and continually looks to
develop his coaching methods in line with modern practices. Shahbaz places a strong
emphasis on discipline, teamwork and professionalism, while ensuring players enjoy the
game and develop a genuine passion for cricket. His aim is to support players at all stages of
development through engaging sessions that promote both growth and high performance.
